影片讲述了十六世纪泰缅战争，缅甸军压大城王朝（阿瑜陀耶王朝：泰国古代的一个朝代）首都大城，大城王朝岌岌可危，面对屠杀大城人民从逃亡到奋起反抗的可歌可泣的故事。。1972年，美军在越南溃败撤离柬埔寨之后，纽约时报驻柬埔寨的战地记者辛尼（萨姆·沃特森 Sam Waterston饰）仍留在当地继续采访。柬埔寨人潘迪（吴汉润 Haing S.
