故事设定在二战期间的巴黎，此时巴黎已被纳粹德国占领，霍夫曼先生因为自己的犹太人身份，不得不让家人先走并将自己的珠宝店托付给自己的下属梅西埃。但是人算不如天算，就在梅西埃与妻子布朗什入主珠宝店没多久，霍夫曼先生再次出现在珠宝店里。由此，三个人的命运纠缠在了一起。。宋国杰需肾移植，母亲杜韵为救子，瞒实情并筹款欲捐肾。回家后欲带儿就医，却被儿子宋国杰及其妻家人误以为杜韵自己患肾癌，欲让宋国杰捐肾。误解加深下，宋国杰在妻家影响下逐渐嫌弃母亲，最终决定将杜韵赶出家门。。Set in a small town in West Texas, four boyhood friends who made a solemn promise to leave town together immediately after high school graduation must now "put up or shut up."
