1960年代，浙江某地。自从在县民歌比赛中获了奖，陶小萍（尤嘉 饰）便不再安心养蚕务农，一心想当越剧演员。嫂子巧莲（朱曼芳 饰）是村里的养蚕能手，她告诫小姑子无论干什么工作首先要端正态度。此后，小萍虽说仍未断做演员的念想，却也在嫂子的影响下有很大转变。春蚕丰收后，她进城卖蚕，巧遇记者招呼巧手妈拍照，她误认为叫自己，结果弄得很尴尬。她去找在县剧团当演员的同学小梅（吴云芳 饰），无奈小梅也圆不了她当演员的梦想，只好悻悻回村。巧莲劝她回心转意安心农业生产，她都当成了耳旁风。为去镇上看戏，她央求水泉（牛犇 饰）替她在蚕房值班，结果蚕房遭风雨侵袭，损失严重，小萍深感愧疚......。Alice is a young woman opposed to the construction of a power-plant, an idea of her own father who is a member of the parliament.
