2010年日本八千代市，小学教师市川新市（哀川翔 饰）功不成名不就，老婆有外遇，女儿又在做援助交际。事业生活一团糟的市川无力改变这一切，只能采取逃避现实的态度来对待。他念念不忘34年前电视台播放的超人剧集《斑马人》，那个似乎无所不能的英雄曾令他振奋不已。夜深人静之时，市川一个人躲在房间里缝制斑马人的战斗服，然后偷偷穿出去体验超人的感觉。
与此同时，市内接连出现奇怪事件，一群邪恶的外星人盯上了地球，而八千代正是他们活动的据点。地球危在旦夕，正义的斑马人会不会出现呢？
