Jan and Gedda have been married to each other for a long time in the Beentjes of Sint-Hildegard. They have known each other for a very long time, Gedda always tries to be one step ahead of Jan. Jan longs for more freedom. When his father-in-law dies, he wants to do something about that suffocating relationship. But then the first signs of Alzheimer's begin to manifest in Jan.。抗战时期，华声歌咏队队员梅春丽能戏善歌，只是体质较弱，同志们都劝她回重庆的姐姐家休养一段时间。春丽过桂林时遭遇湘桂撤退沦为难民，投机商人吴警之对她备献殷勤，二人到重庆后征得姐姐同意结为夫妻。婚后吴警之设法断绝了春丽与外界的来往，并在抗战胜利后回到上海，春丽亦复员在家，十分苦闷。姐夫林尔文在上海办了实验农场，与妻子感情融洽，春丽许多昔日的队友也来到农场。春丽再也无法忍受丈夫的专横，于雷雨之逃到农场，恢复了往日的活力。。在离奇的谋杀案发生后，两个不搭调的小镇警察着手调查众多嫌犯，也随之揭开了隐藏的政治手段、个人企图和可怖神话。。
