Greece, in the 1920's, is occupied by the Turks. The country is in turmoil with entire villages uprooted. The site of the movie is a Greek village that conducts a passion play each year. The leading citizens of the town, under the auspices of the Patriarch, choose those that will play the parts in the Passion. A stuttering shepherd is chosen to play Jesus. The town butcher (who wanted to be Jesus) is chosen as Judas. The town prostitute is chosen as Mary Magdalene. The rest of the disciples are also chosen. As the movie unfolds, the Passion Play becomes a reality. A group of villagers, uprooted by the war and impoverished, arrive at the village led by their priest. The wealthier citizens of the town want nothing with these people and manipulate a massacre. In the context of the 1920's each of the characters plays out their biblical role in actuality.。阿曼达（朱莉娅·罗伯茨 Julia Roberts 饰）和她的丈夫克莱（伊桑·霍克 Ethan Hawke 饰）是一对幸福美满的夫妻，阳光明媚的日子里，阿曼达一家四口前往长岛享受美好假期。未曾想意外突然降临，一艘万吨邮轮毫无征兆冲上沙滩。惊恐万分的一家人回到他们租住的别墅，这时发现网络却断掉，迟迟未曾恢复。夜幕降临，别墅的主人乔治（马赫沙拉·阿里 Mahershala Ali 饰）和女儿罗丝（米哈拉·赫罗德 Myha’la Herrold 饰）不约而至，从对方口中得知，城里的网络却不中断，他不得已才返回住处。半信半疑的阿曼达从电视新闻中得知，整个城市遭到了莫名攻击，网络全面中断。 次日醒来，情况依旧没有好转，而这个世界仿佛变得万分陌生，无比疯狂……。故事发生在位于澳门的一条小街之上，在这里，居住着一位带着四个女儿的母亲。大女儿罗曼英（李婷饰）个性爽朗，总能够给家中带来欢乐的气氛。二女儿罗兰心（胡燕妮饰）天真乐观，对未来充满了美好的愿景。三女儿罗倩美（祝菁饰）到了对爱情产生好奇的年龄，希望有朝一日能够邂逅属于自己的情缘。四女儿罗竹君（冯宝宝饰）虽然年纪很小但志气很大，脑袋里塞满了古灵精怪的念头。 一晃眼多年过去，四个姑娘都出落成为了亭亭玉立的少女。罗曼英终于获得了属于自己的家庭，过着平静但是祥和的日子。罗兰心获得了出国深造的机会，她将这个机会让给了罗倩美，自己则前往香港追梦。。
