全片主要讲述青年《西游记》研究学者李天飞与86版《西游记》演员李玲玉前往甘肃张掖市，探寻《西游记》故事源流与传说考证。他们跟随《西游记》小说的线索一路向西，探索张掖地区与《西游记》传说相关的自然、人文遗存，找寻《西游记》小说与现实之间的印证关系。他们踏遍河西大地，考证多处西游记题材壁画，寻访文化传承人，解开了《西游记》小说成书灵感与故事来源之谜。。蛇医季德胜在旧社会遭人冷眼，人称蛇花子，但他不遗余力，坚持发展祖传秘方。解放后，在党的关怀下，他的社会地位发生根本的变化，毅然献出了秘方。。It's Halloween 1965 in Hollywood and is also the last day that a drive in which the hang out of some youths who call themselves the Hollywood Knights will be open.
