The memories of the title are the recollections of a young woman’s older sister that killed herself mysteriously. The subtle traces of abstractness that inform the film show signs of experimentation by the film’s rookie director, full of dramatic careers in her middle-50s making her feature debut.。五台山以著名的佛教圣地扬名海内外，终日晨钟暮鼓，梵音缭绕，由于日寇的疯狂侵略，使这原本清净的佛教圣地不再清净。在五台山清平庵中，以杨排凤(李彩桦饰)为代表的一批尼姑，在民族存亡的关键时刻，组建了一支女兵排，凭借各自特长，做出了“出家不忘爱国，入世灭日寇，惩恶即扬善”的正义抉择。而由张卫健扮演的女兵排指导员张鸿烈身负护宝职责，在清平庵屡受日寇残忍对待之时率领众女尼们入世灭寇，书写了一幕可歌可泣的动人传说。。
