外表风光无限的堂上综合医院，实际上正经历着经营等方面的困境。在这里，本应“救死扶伤”的医生们似乎忘记了自己的职责与医德，醉心名利，惮于担当，明哲保身，如是弊端重重，正将这家医院推向万劫不复的深渊。这一天，名叫相良浩介（泽村一树 饰）来到此地。他是曾在大学医院供职十余年、有着三千次开刀经历的外科医师，丰富的从艺经验、阳光向上的开朗性格加上崇高无上的医德，让他成为广大患者的福音。泽村精湛的医术很快一起医院内外的关注，而以森山卓（高岛政伸 饰）医生为首的一众“寄生虫”则视其为眼中钉。
