影片讲述了一个家庭和当地居民努力挽救一只英雄狗狗Semper的真实故事。在这个家庭中，父亲是陆战队上尉，母亲是全职主妇，还有他们15岁的女儿和儿子以及一个早熟的6岁女儿。这个家庭难以承担Semper的手术费用。大女儿想出了一个主意，举行社区义卖活动。在基金募集过程中，一些暴躁的邻居还闹出了一点不愉快和意外。最后终于凑足了手术费，在进行手术前，Semper表现出它一贯的英雄气概。。《不寻常日常——中元不信邪系列》是中国台湾出品的短剧集，虽然“吃祭品、踩冥币、吹口哨、夜出行”等，是几个非常短小精悍的故事，但每一个故事都在围绕“中元节”而发生，也正是它特有的中式恐怖，和恰到好处的节奏为影片增色不少。。Plebs is described as "a thoroughly modern comedy in an ancient setting."
